Property Owners Need To Dig Out Analog Water Meter To Ready For Replacement
Our goal is to finish installing digital remote read radio meters at all properties by the first week in July. There are 47 water meters that still need to be replaced. If your property is listed below, please follow the instructions below to dig out your water meter.
Here are the lots that need to dig up their analog water meter: 1, 2, 4, 6, 7E & 7W, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, 34, 36, 38, 40, 43, 44, 45, 46A, 47, 58, 65, 67, 68, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 79, 81, 82, 83, 84
Step 1: Clear the Area surrounding the meter box: Remove all vegetation, debris, and obstructions surrounding the meter box to provide safe and easy access.

Step 2: Remove the top of the box and locate the meter.

Step 3: BE CAREFUL digging about 18 inches deep (about a foot clearance on each side of the box) to expose the meter box. Remove the meter box and dig out the meter exposing both couplings on each side and with a few inches’ clearance underneath. BE EXTERMELY CAREFUL digging this out as to not damage the meter or any of the piping surrounding it! Do not use pick ax or other sharp and heavy tools to dig.

Step 4: After the analog meter is completely cleared, replace the meter box and lid. Then email Info@ colonymtcc.org and let us know it is ready for the remote meter installation.

Step 5: Once the digital remote radio meter has been replaced by the Water Management Team, we will contact you to rebury your meter box.
If property owners do not dig out their analog water meters, the CMCC Board will need to hire contractors to do this task and the property owner will be responsible for the cost of the dig out. We estimate the cost to be $200-$300 per meter depending on how difficult it is to dig out.
Please contact info@colonymtcc.org if you have any questions.
Thank you for your help with this task!
