BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for consumption, but you can help flush water through the system

Monday, August 19, 2024 Update: The BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for water consumption, but we encourage washing of clothes, long showers, and other water use activities that will aid in flushing the water through the system.

The chlorination process was done this past weekend and we now need to flush the water system until the chlorine level returns to zero detection level, and then samples will be taken again. To aid in this process it would be helpful if each household uses water to help flush the system today. You could wash clothes, take showers, and use water in other ways. Just keep in mind that you still need to boil the water before consuming it. (Boiling is the best way to ensure water is free of illness-causing organisms. Bring the water to a rolling boil for one minute. When it cools, refrigerate the water in clean covered containers.)

Not until all samples yield negative results will the “Boil Water Notice” be lifted (We anticipate this could be Wednesday, if everything goes as planned.)

As more information becomes available, we will continue to post updates to the website and send email/text communications. DRINKING WATER WARNINGE. coli Detection

The Colony Mountain Community Club Water System, ID 14069, located in Skagit County is contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

E. coli bacteria was detected in the water supply on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. These bacteria can make you sick and are a particular concern for people with compromised immune systems.

E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal wastes Human pathogens in these wastes can cause short-term effects, such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. They may pose a greater health risk for infants, young children, the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems.

The symptoms above are not caused only by organisms in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice. People at increased risk should seek advice about drinking water from their health care provider.

We will consult with the State Department of Health about this incident. We will provide you notification when you no longer need to boil the water. As of Monday, 8/19/2024, this notice is still in effect.
